UMPIRES.

Our umpiring trainee program provides a solid foundation for novice umpires to develop the skills and confidence needed for successful officiating.

Become an Umpire.

  1. Be a current registered Netball Victoria and Geelong Central Netball Association member.

  2. Read and learn the Rules of Netball.

  3. Enrol and complete Rules of Netball Exam and Foundations Umpire Education Course (cost applicable).

  4. Download and submit completion certificates for both the exam and course using our online form 'Umpires Expression of Interest'.

Geelong Central Netball Association Inc. umpires are required to be 12 years + (must be in Year 7 and above) with the following steps completed:

  • Click relevant link

  • Enrol, read and/or complete course

  • Download Certificate of Completion

  • Complete Umpire Expression of Interest Form

  • Login at www.learning.netball.com.au

  • Navigate to Technical Officials section

  • click Umpires Course button

  • use top right Search Bar to find relevant course

  • A finger grip whistle 

  • Hair tie for centre passes

  • White skirt or shorts

  • A GCNA Umpire polo shirt (required)

  • A GCNA Umpire hoodie (optional)

Other items you may want to bring on match day:

  • Water bottle

  • White cap/visor

  • Sunscreen

On inclement weather days it is good to have:

  • White jacket

  • Leggings (must be worn under skirt/shorts)

Once registered as a GCNA umpire, you will receive further information via email regarding our umpire trainee program. As part of these programs you will be required to attend free workshops offered by Geelong Central Netball Association. We look forward to watching your development as an umpire.

More Information.

  • ​You'll receive an email from play@geelongcentralnetballassociation.au confirming you've completed the relevant tasks to partake as a club umpire. 

  • Once approved, your details will be forward to the umpires coordinator.

  • Please fill in the payment request form with bank details for processing - please have a parent supervise this process if unsure. 

  • Payment description will show up on your bank statement with your name and referenced as GCNA Travel Allowance via Bendigo Bank electronic funds transfer.

  • Now you're ready to begin your on court training!
